This large chandelier is built from a single kochia tumbleweed gathered near Taos, New Mexico. Because the plant itself forms the structure of the light, each piece retains an entirely individual, natural shape. Kochia grows along roadsides, farmland edges, and dry arroyos, though only certain years yield the large, balanced shapes required for these fixtures. Each tumbleweed is found locally and set aside until it is ready to be made into a light.

The chandelier is fitted with an extra-large, smoke-tinted Edison-style LED bulb. Each piece is made to order and can be built with a standard plug-in cord or configured for hardwired ceiling installation.

The natural form of the tumbleweed determines the silhouette of the fixture.
